Using Dermal Fillers to help volumise and define the lips is an ideal treatment for our patients. As we age, past early 20s, our lips go through a development stage of losing volume, collagen and and elastin. As a result, our lips start to lose its once plumped appearance.
Our lips can range from a value of 1-5. This measurement is important to understand what type of filler is needed and how much, with 1 being thin lips and 5 being quite volumised already.
Your skin naturally produces hyaluronic acid, a sugar-based compound responsible for delivering and maintaining moisture and nutrient levels in skin cells. This helps in creating volume and smoothness in your skin.
Unfortunately, with time, your skin’s ability to manufacture its own hyaluronic acid decreases. When dermal fillers are injected into fine lines, wrinkles, or sunken areas of the face, they replenish the hyaluronic acid that has been absorbed into your body over time, helping you achieve a more youthful appearance.
